My Passions

Changing the Ratio of Women in Computing and Technology
I’m Her Systers’ Keeper for community of women in computing. We inspire, connect and advise each other in computing careers. I’m also organizational admin for Google Summer of Code Program for Systers. An important program for our community as Systers mentor young Systers in coding skills, development life cycle and collaboration of global teams. Additionally, I speak at conferences in promoting women in computing and participation in FOSS. You can see my presentations at my SlideShare profile.

Increasing the Number of Underrepresented Minority Groups, Low Income and Underserved Communities in Tech
The low number of Blacks, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans and People with Disabilities in Tech is incredibly low. I work with organizations like CMD-IT and attend conferences like ACM Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing to help Computing students learn about career opportunities in Computing, increase engagement with larger technical community and help provide resources for scholarships, grants, initiatives and more.

Free Open Source Software (FOSS)
I’ve been involved and learning FOSS since 2005. My first open source language was Python through Systers, but continuing to learn through my local chapter of PyLadiesATL. Through Rails Girls Atlanta, I’m now learning Ruby on Rails.

Storytelling
I love stories and I love storytelling. The blogging world really took off with Blogger, WordPress, Drupal. Then the micro-blogging enter the market with Twitter. This is a drupal site and I have used WordPress for blogging. I also contribute to Drupal. But I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited to start writing my stories with Medium. That’s where you’ll find my stories.

Google Summer of Code
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a great program where I have been a mentor and organizational administrator for Systers. Our community is a heavy technical community of women and we pass on our experience and knowledge to the next generation of computing professionals through GSoC. Check out our >> PROJECTS.

Social Innovation
I’m also on the #impactjourney and to amplify the good economy. Social Innovation is a key element to creating social positive change in neighborhoods around the world on grass roots level with global backing. I joined NordicsGoSoCap in 2014 to help bring money and meaning together to strengthen social capital markets.
